Victorian Cancer Cytogenetics Service

The Victorian Cancer Cytogenetics service is a fully NATA/RCPA accredited laboratory providing a state-wide service to Victoria for cancer cytogenetic analysis.

We aim to provide a comprehensive cancer cytogenetics service to the State of Victoria with a commitment to quality and efficiency of service. Testing is also available to other parts of Australia on request.  We are also committed to providing education and to continuing research in the areas of cancer cytogenetics and molecular genetics. As part of our service, we provide cytogenetics testing for national and international clinical trials including the Children's Oncology Group (COG) and the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group (ALLG).


We offer the following tests:

  • G-Banded Chromosome analysis
  • Fluorescence In-situ Hybridisation (FISH) analysis (see list of clinical settings and list of available probes)
  • M Band and M FISH analysis
  • Paraffin Embedded Tissue (FFPE) FISH
  • Microarray analysis
  • Other tests on consultation
