Areas of Interest:  Urologic pathology, pulmonary pathology, GIT and skin

Matthew graduated in medicine with honours from the University of Queensland in 1988. His early clinical years were at Royal Brisbane Hospital, and he moved to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney to train in Anatomical Pathology. He spent one year as a Fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where he developed an interest in urological pathology and pulmonary pathology.

He joined Melbourne Pathology in 1998, completed an MBA at Melbourne Business School, and was made Medical Director and CEO of the organisation in 2001. He moved to Healthscope in 2005 as Director of Pathology, with responsibility for laboratories in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore. He was later involved in establishing a small private laboratory in Albury, which subsequently merged with Dorevitch. More recently he has returned to public practice, and worked at Austin Health for three years before joining St Vincent’s. His interests are in urological pathology, pulmonary pathology, the gastrointestinal tract and skin.
