Dr Stuart Galloway

Histopathology / Cytopathology


After graduating from medical school at the University of Sydney in 1978, Stuart began his residency at the Royal Canberra Hospital.  He later moved to London for a year where he worked as a Pathology Registrar at Charing Cross Hospital.  In 1982 Stuart returned to Australia and took up the role as Pathology Registrar at St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney where he worked for a year, and later at the Woden Valley Hospital in Canberra.

Stuart also worked at the Austin Hospital Melbourne as a Registrar and in 1988 he received his fellowship in the Royal College of Pathologists.  He later joined Wangaratta Pathology as a Pathologist, and in 1991 joined Gippsland Pathology.

Due to Stuart's interest in all areas of pathology he began his own pathology service, known as Galloway Pathology, which he was owner and Director for eight years.

In 2001 Stuart joined St. Vincent's Pathology, Melbourne.  He has a keen interest in a variety of pathology including Bone and sarcoma, Bone marrow, & Head / Neck tumours.  Stuart is also involved in teaching fourth year Medical students at the University of Melbourne, and is actively involved in registrar supervision.  He is an examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists.

His other interests include pathology informatics, which he his currently developing a searchable text & graphic data for Histology and Cytology with over 3000 pictures.
