St. Vincent's Pathology utilises BULK BILLING for outpatient services wherever possible. Please advise your doctor or pathology collector if this facility is not offered to you.
Where the BULK BILLING option is not utilised, St Vincent's Pathology charges at the rate set by Medicare Australia.
There are some tests which your doctor may request that are non-rebatable and cannot be claimed through Medicare Australia. These tests are payable by the patient but any other tests ordered on the same request slip, in most cases will be charged at the rebate rate and will be fully covered by Medicare Australia.
Private inpatients with private health insurance, where the level of cover allows for Simplified or Direct Billing, may not receive an account from St Vincent's Pathology as these can be sent directly to your health fund. Please see the reverse of the invoice for health funds eligible for Direct Billing.
Overseas Students who have health insurance with Medibank Private or OSHC may also utilise our Direct Billing facility for both inpatient and outpatient services. Overseas visitors may be required to make payment at the time the sample is taken.
If you wish to pay an account first and claim back from Medicare Australia later, a receipt will be mailed to you for claiming purposes.
