| Patient Preparation | For at least 48 hours prior to, and during, collection patients should avoid: (1) red meat, (2) high levels of vitamin C (including vitamin supplements), (3) raw fruits and vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, radish, carrots, parsnips, turnips and cantaloupe. (4) excessive alcohol use (5) drugs that may cause gastrointestinal bleeding such as aspirin, unless prescribed by doctor. | ||
| Collection Instructions | PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS: URINATE PRIOR TO PERFORMING THE TEST Please write your full name, date of birth, date and time of collection on the jar/s provided. The stool should be passed into a clean dry container such as a clean empty margarine container or a clean milk carton with the top cut off. Using the scoop built into the lid of the pot, place a small scoopful of stool (walnut size) into the pot. Check that the lid is tightly closed and deliver the three specimens to the collection centre on the same day as the 3rd specimen is collected. | ||
