Special Requirements All urine drug screens should be supervised. Indicate that the collection was supervised by writing in the clinical notes section of the request form "Supervised by" followed by your name (printed) and then your signature. If the patient refuses to be supervised note this clearly on the request form. Do not challenge the patient. Note on the request form any unusual behaviour by the patient while passing urine. Urine drug screening should NOT be bulk billed when the testing is: - for legal proceedings - requested by DHS - a condition of registration in accordance with a directive of a state or territory medical board - provided directly or indirectly at the request of the Medical Board, Court of Law or Parole Board. 
Patient Preparation None 
Collection Instructions Collect random urine. Care must be taken to ensure that the specimen is not substituted, diluted or adulterated during collection. For this reason, the following precautions must be observed: - the patient must be observed whilst passing the urine specimen - ensure that there are no containers with chemicals or fluids present in the vicinity of the patient during collection - immediately check the specimen to ensure that it is appropriately warm.
